You can’t change the world {sumo lounge}

“how I realized it all and grew happy with the fact that I can’t change the world”

Ralph pointed me to this sweet video piece.
great soundtrack
great* video effects
great* concept

although it reminds me of something I saw a couple years ago by MK12, this piece is amazingly done.
please, have a check and greet the guys, thanking them for the great work

Sumo Lounge

*UPDATE:
after checking around and reviewing the old videos (also thanks to christian of NuThinking), I realized that after all the work isn’t that great.
Think the music does the job of making it better.
the most amazing video which was sure “inspirational” (not gonna use the word rip-off anymore, somebody might remember why) for the sumolounge one (thx gabon) is

What Barry Says
and this is a fine piece… no regrets even after 24 hours.

R.I.P. Bob Moog

The inventor of the famous Moog sinthesyzer died last sunday, august 22.
Both the Moog and the Theremin are his inventions, and the world just lost one of the fathers of electronic music.

musicians of every music genre used the instruments he created, which were expensive but produced the most unique (and sometimes unexpected) music results.

his synths have been used by famous past and actual bands.
big loss, guys… big loss

my first Flash 8 experiment with camera

yes, I did one.
finally found an hour to translate an old lingo experiment (never published but still on my drive) into something using flash player 8.

I make use of few features that are Flash8 only

Rectangle
Point
BitmapData
draw

and the Camera Object is already present in the old player.

enjoy

twodotone 8ball stuff (only 1 for now)

Flash 8 experiments by my mate Ralph

Ralph Hauwert (read like “howard”) is one of the dutch guys on the Flash 8 beta program.
He’s been doing stuff for about a month right now, and something pretty nice has been made public.
they both take advantage of new features that include

BitmapData Object and CacheAsBitmap feature.
this makes flash stuff actually fast to render (even on MACS), and takes flash a step beyond.
I can finally use flash to do part of what I was doing in Lingo (but I’m gonna use Processing anyway, HA).
Enjoy

thanx to Ralph from unit zero one

Heineken greenspace goes live

Today the new project I was working on for Heineken went online.
I’m very glad for many reasons.

  • the site is beautiful and works well
  • the client is happy and loves it
  • hard to believe: there were no complaints
  • I’ll soon get paid
  • I can finally get some sleep

the contents are by a lot of very cool artists.
it was initially developed by me and niko for Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam, then WK quit the interactive department and we got the job ourselves.
Thank you WK, for leaving us on the street.

So, thanks to twodotone and abnormalbehaviorchild (us), here it comes, the greenspace online.
The site has been re-engeneered and re-designed, so it’s different from the previous one.
The contents are the same, though.

have a look at it.
you might like it.
the greenspace concept is pretty cool, but check it out yourselves

Torrent of Mac OS X for intel starts spreading

this morning, checking one of the most famous torrent sites around, our friend Ralph bumped into a discovery.

Apple.OS.X.x86.Developer.Kit.Install.DVD-phe*NIX

it’s not cracked or anything.
it’s just an install DVD image, and here’s the .nfo file by phe*NIX (the releasing group), which describes how the protection system is going to work.

after less than one hour, another .nfo and release (this time from XISO) came out and you know what?
they joke the phe*NIX guys mentioning them in the .nfo, and release a working version (cracked and patched to work on normal PC’s).

have fun reading the two .nfo files, but go looking for the torrents somewhere else

phe*NIX
Proper

UPDATE:
sorry for the mistake, but “proper” stands for “a real good one”.
I got confused with a Movie Release group.
so, the release is by Xiso.
but it anyway looks like a FAKE!!!
I don’t have time to download this and install it, since I’m too busy working and I own 5 real macs and one Intel machine which sports a Linux distro and is my test server.
Thanx Gizmodo for linking anyway.

UPDATE 2:
I downloaded the torrent, but can’t get any connection to the tracker.
so, at least for now, it’s bogus.
feel free to download the torrent from here
[of course the above .torrent file provided does not imply that randomtype is involved with it's creation]
